The modifications I made included:
- Pre-Production (Asset Lists, Mood boards, flowcharts)
- Concept Art for 4 new obstacles and the protagonist
- 3D Models for 4 new obstacles and the protagonist
- Animating the protagonist using Mixamo
- Programming a new sliding mechanic with C#
- Animating the player’s hitbox with the sliding animation in Unity
- My own custom music that I made in logic pro with the built-in drums and real keyboard and bass guitar instruments
I was tasked to modify a 3D unity game I’d made as part of the junior programmer pathway, which was the primary programming learning project for the skills development module during my first year of college.
I modelled a new character and obstacles, modified the player controller script with a new input for sliding under obstacles, and modified the spawn manager script to randomly spawn my new obstacles at the correct positions on the Y axis. The result is a custom version of the unity 3D runner game, with my own new models and game mechanics – mainly inspired by PlayStation Vita game “I Must Run”.
